Painting varnish
When added in small amounts, our varnishes will harden the paint film and ensure the long life permanence of the colors. Our varnish to oil paint films will create a sense of depth and transparency. When applied as a final protective layer, our Amber Varnish will protect the paint’s surface from the effects of solvents, alkalis and the long-term effects of aging. Our painting mediums so do instrument varnishes contain no driers are solvent free and are all natural.

Instrument Varnish
Amber Varnish for violins, viols, viola de gambas, cellos, and bowed string instruments of the viol family. Amber lacquer provides a flexible and durable coating of the instrument. Amber will harden the paint film and ensure the long life permanence of the colors. The instrument’s wood will not stain, like synthetic lacquer. It can be easily removed and put a new cutter without damaging the instrument. Amber lacquer makes its own unique instrumental sound.

With a Drying Cabinet
For the use on musical instruments, with a drying cabinet, add 20 drops of cobalt or Japan drier to every 10 ml of Amber Varnish (Linseed, Poppy or Walnut). To thin, if desired, add no more than 1 part varnish to ¾ part solvent. Use of one of the solvents – spirits of turpentine (essence of turpentine) or spike of lavender.
By making tests personally, I have never used dryers, I use UV-light air-conditioned room, pine turpentine, warm and sunny summer days.
